Laos June 2010

In June this year AFESIP launched an exhibition in Vientiane to showcase some of the art created by the victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation.

The exhibition brought together paintings and sculptures made by the survivors at AFESIP rescue shelters during their counseling sessions with The Art2Healing Project, where through art therapy, they learn to express and heal the pain of their traumatic experiences.

This project was started in 2009 to help bring more awareness to the alarmingly high presence of the illegal sex trade industry in Laos. AFESIP hopes this exhibition will help contribute to empowering the survivors of sex trafficking by giving them the opportunity to be a part of the ongoing awareness campaign by sharing their experiences with the general public.
